This project looks at three ways to obtain video of a subject from the air, without the use of a crane or tall building: using a kite; using a radio controlled airplane; and using a radio controlled airship.

The video on the right was an initial attempt using a small electric powered RC plane and a miniature HD video camera. 

The video could be further enhanced with software image stabilization.  The video you see here is a highly compressed version of the original full HD file. Modifications of the airplane are required as it was under-powered and, therefore, difficult to fly.  We will try a larger motor and propeller, with extra power coming from lithium polymer batteries instead of nickel metal hydrides.
