SHORT SHORTS

There has been a revival recently in the creation of very short films. Short filmmaking is growing in popularity as equipment becomes cheaper and more amateurs are making films. Certain websites which encourage the submission of user-created short films, such asYouTube, Openfilm, BritFilms and Newgrounds have attracted large communities of artists and viewers. Sites like BBC Film Network focus on showcasing curated shorts.Pixar are now famous for their animated shorts.  Even amateurs can create quality animation shorts and have a wide audience using YouTube (example right).  Or, you can broadcast your short on Vimeo (below right).


 The Sony sponsored WPO has a competition category 'Moving Images' especially for very short films.  Below you will find a couple of shorts from this year's competition:
