Imagine you are in a large living room that people gradually enter. How many people must be in the room before the probability that some share a birthday becomes at least 50 percent?  Assuming 365 days each year, the answer is a mere 23 people! This solution is counter intuitive to most people.  Even stranger, the probability is more than 99 percent for 57 or more people.
